Guidelines for Oral Contrast CT scanning;
lohexol 300 will be administered in a dilution of 5ml of lohexol into 200m1 of clear fluids. Clear
fluids include plain water, water with lemonade or orange flavoring packets kept in the CT department,
any non-carbonated drink the patient may bring in to their preference’ (Gatorade)
. 4 glasses or a total 800 ml’s of fluid is given to the patient over t hour’
. % of Ihe last glass is saved to drink just prior to the patient’s cT scan.
. lf the patient has had a previous contrast reaction the patient will be given a barium oral
contrast to replace the lohexol for their CT scan.
