Title: PUBLIC TALKS FOR THE
POISON PREVENTION AND
EDUCATION CENTER (PPEC)



I. PURPOSE: To establish criteria for giving talks to the public.

II. POLICY: Because of limited staffing, poison lectures must be planned in advance.

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Talks to the public will generally focus on the topics of poison prevention education, poison
center awareness, medication safety practices, substance abuse, and poisoning home
management. Other topics will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on need.
B. Talks will be scheduled as center staffing allows.
C. Volunteers will be utilized if/when available to be trained by and assist the PPEC
coordinator in poison prevention programs.
