Title: Poison Brochure Mail outs



I. PURPOSE: To provide uniform guidelines for the distribution of poison prevention promotional
materials.

II. POLICY: Poison promotional materials will be mailed out upon receipt of order request along
with payment if appropriate.

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Callers to the Poison Prevention and Education Center (PPEC) may request promotional
materials. Visitors to the PPEC website can also make requests via e-mail.
1. If the caller is a member of the general public, a free sample packet will be
mailed.
2. If the caller specifies an interest in a large number of brochures, or is calling from
an organization, a free sample packet along with an order form will be mailed.
B. Forms that are returned to the UWHC PPEC will be received by the PPEC poison
education coordinator.
C. The coordinator will then give any monies to the DPP program assistant who will:
1. Forward payment to appropriate budget analyst in pharmacy office.
2. No purchase orders will be accepted.
D. The coordinator will keep a log of materials requests and mail the materials listed on the
order forms to the given addresses.
E. The coordinator will keep a current inventory of the poison prevention materials on
hand, and will re-order when supplies are running low, based in part on the semi-annual
ordering schedule for national materials.
