Title: Resident
professional
interview days


I. PURPOSE: To outline excused days from rotation granted for professional interview days for
pharmacy practice residents and administrative residents.

II: PROCEDURE:

A. All residents will be granted up to a maximum of 7 days to attend professional interviews
throughout the residency year.

B. Resident will inform their residency director and current preceptor within 48 hours of
solidifying travel plans. Administrative residents will need to discuss missed course work
with professors.

C. Resident is responsible for covering any assigned staffing shifts.

D. Residents will submit their desired time off according to the procedure outlined within
the pharmacy department Policy 18.1 Pharmacy Resident Pharmacy Practice Experience,
and time off will be documented as outlined in the pharmacy department Policy 18.9
Resident, Scheduling for Professional, Practice and Leisure

E. If additional days are needed beyond the approved 7 days, the resident will schedule a
meeting with their director and impacted preceptor(s) to ensure required rotation goals
and objectives are completed.

F. If greater than 3 days are taken off from the same rotation, the resident will schedule a
meeting with their director and impacted preceptor to ensure required rotation goals and
objectives are completed or alternative assignments are assigned to meet those objectives.
