Title: UW Health Pharmacy Discount Policy


I. PURPOSE
To establish the policies and procedures governing discounts for over-the-counter (OTC) items at
ambulatory pharmacy locations.

II. POLICY
All UW Health Pharmacies will use standard discount practices for over-the-counter (OTC)
products as outlined below. A discount should never be utilized for prescription sales. No
pharmacy will have site-specific discounts without approval of the Ambulatory Pharmacy
Leadership Committee.

III. PROCEDURE

A. Employee Discount
a. All UW Health employees are eligible to receive a 20% discount on most OTC items
b. A valid employee ID must be presented at the time of purchase
c. At the point-of-sale, a pharmacy employee will confirm the employee’s ID is current and
valid prior to applying the employee discount
d. An employee discount may not be used in combination with any other discounts

B. Senior Citizen Discount
a. Customers who are 60 years of age and older are eligible to receive a 20% discount on most
OTC products on Wednesdays
b. A valid, government-issues form of ID must be presented at the time of purchase
c. At the point-of-sale, the pharmacy employee will confirm that the customer’s ID is valid, and
that the date-of-birth qualifies the customer for a Senior Citizen discount
d. This discount may not be used in combination with any other discounts

C. OTC Products Not Eligible for Discounts
a. OTC products listed in Appendix A will not be eligible for Employee Discounts or Senior
Citizen Discounts
