Nursing Administrative Policy and
Procedure Committee


I. PURPOSE:
A. The Nursing Administrative Policy and Procedure Committee has responsibility for
development and review of nursing policies, procedures and practices which provide
direction in administrative operations, including personnel management within the UW
Health Nursing Department. Other areas where nurses are employed included as
appropriate.
II. ACCOUNTABILITY:
A. Nursing Executive Council
III. FUNCTIONS:
A. Review current policies and establish priority for those that need to be written or revised.
B. Recommend needed policies and procedures, which relate to administrative operations in
Nursing, to the Nursing Executive Council.
C. Ensure that the administrative policies and procedures are consistent with other
regulations, e.g. those of UW Health, University of Wisconsin, State of Wisconsin, and
Federal Government.
D. Critically review, revise, and recommend approval of existing nursing administrative
policies and procedures every three years.
E. Determine and initiate effective methods for implementing the policies and procedures to
ensure consistent application by nursing staff.
