Title: Environments (this procedure is
used by UWHC, UWMF, and Unity)

I. PURPOSE

This procedure establishes a forum to agree on an integrated environment calendar for
the Health Link Test environments and the Production (PRD) environment. It is
necessary to ensure application teams maintain and keep the build in sync across each
Health Link Test environment. There is also a need to facilitate the approval process to
either request a new environment, archive an environment, or decommission an
environment that is no longer in use.

II. PROCEDURE

1. UW Health IS and Unity representatives meet quarterly to review and approve the
RA/SU and Environment calendar for the next three to six months.
2. The primary implementation path is INT > VFY > PRD/MST/SUP.
3. PRD Support, RA/SUs:
a. The standard progression for a change is to migrate from the test
environments to PRD. The change is then applied to PRD, MST and SUP,
unless exceptions apply (i.e. the issue is not present in test environments)
b. For RA/SU and bi-monthly SU packages, the progression begins in the test
environments and then migrates to PRD, MST, and SUP.
c. All special requests to create or decommission an environment should be
sent to the RA/SU Coordinator to obtain approval from the Database &
Server Admin Manager and Health Link Technical Leaders group.

III. POLICY

This procedure supports the following policy:

Environments Policy (HL-013-POL)
