Administrative (Non-Clinical) Policy
This administrative policy applies to the operations and staff of the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and
Clinics Authority (UWHCA) as integrated effective July 1, 2015, including the legacy operations and
staff of University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) and University of Wisconsin Medical
Foundation (UWMF).

I. PURPOSE

To establish University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority dba UW Health guidelines for the
acceptance of donated works of art, pictures, and photographs.

II. POLICY ELEMENTS

A. All donated items must be approved by the UW Health Art Coordinator before being accepted.
No art donation is to be directly accepted by any area without the concurrence of the art
coordinator.

B. All gifts of works of art, pictures, and photographs shall be accepted or rejected based upon the
judgment of the art coordinator, who will decide on the most suitable location for display.

C. Donors shall be required to sign a Deed of Gift form acknowledging the transfer of legal title of
ownership to the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority dba UW Health.

D. Donated works of art, pictures, and photographs are the property of UW Health. UW Health
reserves the right to determine where art will be displayed and when and for what period of time
it will be placed in storage. UW Health also reserves the right to dispose of donated works of art,
pictures, and photographs by sale, exchange, or donation, when it determines it is in the best
interest of UW Health to do so.

III. PROCEDURE

UW Health employees being advised of proposed gifts of pictures, photographs and/or works of art to
UW Health by families, patients and/or friends, should refer the prospective donor(s) to the UW Health
Art Coordinator (263-5992) who will advise the prospective donor(s) of this policy and have a Deed of
Gift signed if the donation is made.
