Performance Based Pay Review

Performance Based Pay Review - Pay & Benefits, Paycheck, FY18 Pay Plan

Focus

UW Health will be using the same method as last year to distribute this year’s 2.5% budget based on employees’ performance. The budget is based on 2.5% of employees’ salary range midpoint. For most employees, the increase will be based on the employee’s overall performance rating compared to the distribution of ratings in their executive or SMPH department grouping. (What are the executive and SMPH department groupings? Here’s the list.)

Please note that most regular employees will receive some sort of pay increase this October.

The process can differ between regular employees and temporary employees.

Employees Over the Maximum

Employees over the maximum of their pay range will receive their increase in the form of a lump sum.  If an increase would take an employee’s pay over the pay range maximum they will receive a base pay increase up to the pay range maximum and the remainder will be paid in the form of a lump sum. Employees can find their pay range in Employee Self-Service under Payroll and Compensation > Current Compensation.

Example: An employee in grade CLN107 is above the maximum of the pay grade making $24/hr and receives a performance increase of 2.9% of their midpoint. The employee works a 0.75 FTE. The calculation of the employee’s performance based lump sum amount would be as follows (assuming rating distribution in example 1 above):

($20.35 x 2.9% = $0.59/hr) x  (2,080x .75 = 1,560 hrs) = $920.40 lump sum
Midpoint x2.9% FTE adjustment

The lump sum payment will be paid on the regular pay check associated with the effective date of the performance based pay increase which is October 20, 2017 for UWMF employees and October 26, 2017 for UWHC employees.
