Benefit Summary

Being dually appointed by both the UW-Madison and UWMF, you are eligible for benefits from both organizations. The UW-Madison disability plan (Income Continuance Plan) is not considered a total disability package. For example, if you are unable to perform your duties as a physician, but could do the work of a Program Assistant, you would be expected to work. Because of these circumstances, UWMF offers Long Term Disability Wrap Insurance.

Basic Long Term Disability Wrap Insurance

Basic Long Term Disability Wrap Insurance is a mandatory benefit if you have an appointment of 75% or greater. The Basic Wrap provides an additional $1,000 per month in benefit should you become disabled and is occupation specific. In other words, if you are unable to perform your duties as a physician, you are considered totally disabled. The premium is paid by you and is based on your age, income, and specialty/sub-specialty. This benefit can be converted to a personal policy should you leave UWMF.

Supplemental Long Term Disability Wrap Insurance

Supplemental Long Term Disability Wrap Insurance is an optional benefit if you have an appointment of 75% or greater. The Supplemental Wrap provides up to $1,500 per month in benefit. As with the Basic Wrap, the Supplemental Wrap is occupation specific. Premiums are paid by you and are based on your age, income, and specialty/sub-specialty. This benefit can be converted to a personal policy should you leave UWMF.
