Retirement Recognition - Inside UW Health, Recognition

For Managers

More information regarding this recognition is available in the Manager's Toolkit

It is the practice of UW Health to recognize the high value of long-time employees and the importance of celebrating their contributions to the organization at the time of their retirement. This recognition is to create an opportunity for colleagues to wish the retiree well, and for UW Health to thank the retiree for his or her service.

Retirement Recognition Eligibility

UW Health physicians and staff who have 20 years or more of continuous service and are 55 years of age at time of resignation are eligible for this program. Years of service is based on UWHC Hospital Service Date or UWMF Service Date.

Note: School of Medicine and Public Health non-physician employees are not eligible for this program.

Retirement Recognition Component

  1. All eligible employees will receive a certificate of appreciation as well as a gift of their choice from UW Health.
  2. Eligible employees will also be provided a reception arranged by Human Resources.
    1. Staff and Management Recognition - Cupcakes, fruit, and refreshments will be served. Invitations will be for the unit or department, and others who are closely associated with the retiree.
    2. Director Level and Above Recognition - Light snacks, cupcakes, fruit, and refreshments will be served. Invitations will be UW Health wide.

Note: In lieu of a reception and a gift, UW Health will make a $200 donation in the retiree's name to any eligible charity. Eligible charities include any of the 500+ charities that participate in Partners in Giving (see link for all participating charities), Friends of UW Health, or to any charitable fund managed by the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
