UW Health is launching a unique clinic to help women and families who experience miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss. The Perinatal and Infant Loss Clinic (working title) is located within the Arboretum Clinic at 1102 S. Park Street. Appointments are available on Wednesdays beginning June 7.
The clinic is one of four known in the world that addresses the medical and emotional needs of women along with their family/support circle. At the first appointment, women meet with an obstetrician and clinical psychologist to discuss feelings, concerns and care plan options. Follow-up care can take place at the Perinatal and Infant Loss Clinic or with the patient’s primary or obstetrical care provider.
The clinic is especially designed for women who:
- Have recently experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or infant loss
- Are pregnant but have been told a loss is imminent
- Are worried about their current pregnant having experienced a past loss
- Wish to be pregnant after experiencing loss
The clinic team is led by Dr. Kristen Sharp, obstetrician gynecologist and Dr. Julianne Zweifel, clinical psychologist. Referral is not required. Call (608) 287-5898 for appointments or more information.
