This handbook is provided as a resource guide and a summary of the various policies, benefits, services and programs available and applicable to non-represented employees of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. It summarizes general conditions of employment and rights and responsibilities as a UWHC employee.
Employees are encouraged to read this handbook and use it as a reference. When further information is needed, employees should refer to applicable policies and procedures or contact their supervisor or Human Resources. Should there be differences between this handbook and provisions of contracts, benefit plan documents and/or policies, the provisions of those documents will govern. Neither this handbook nor the personnel policies create an employment contract between UWHC and any employee.
UWHC complies with all applicable local, state and federal employment laws and regulations and is committed to treating all employees fairly and with respect. UWHC also expects all of our employees practice the same commitment to fairness and respect in all of their interactions with one another and the people committed to our care. We have designed a set of personnel policies that is committed to treating employees fairly, and we periodically update those policies to be as consistent as possible with best practices related to employment fairness. UWHC may modify this handbook, the policies/practices and/or procedures it references at any time to ensure we maintain the best possible work and academic working environment for all staff.
