Each new or rehired regular employee of UWHC shall undergo a six month mandatory probationary period. The probationary period is established for the purpose of evaluating performance. During this time, employees will be oriented to the proper way to perform the job tasks for which hired. A carefully structured probationary period can be an important factor in establishing initial employee work habits and fit to culture that often become a permanent part of the employee's performance characteristics.
Additionally, current employees who accept another position within UWHC (promotion, lateral transfer, demotion), shall serve a six (6) month probationary period.
If necessary, probationary periods may be extended for up to an additional six months.
For continued employment past a probationary period, employees must meet minimum performance and behavior expectations. If the employee fails to do so, s/he may be terminated at any time during the probationary period without advance notice and without the right of appeal.
