Would you like to develop and grow in your current role at UW Health? Do you wish to learn about other career opportunities? Would you like to learn medical terminology and improve your confidence by improving reading, writing, and math skills? Do you have aspirations to go back to school? If your answer is yes to one or more of these questions, consider applying for UW Health’s School at Work program!

What is School at Work?

School at Work is a career development program for entry-level employees who want to develop workplace skills and grow their career. Participants must be committed to learning and developing their skills. In addition to attending class for two hours each week, participants are expected to complete three to four hours of homework each week on personal time. The program helps UW Health employees:

The School at Work Program focuses on principles of patient satisfaction and safety, enhancing grammar, reading, writing, math skills and teaching medical terminology. Computer and career-planning skills are also taught to help employees become stronger in their current roles, seek out new employment opportunities at UW Health, and gain the confidence to go back to school.

Employees must meet eligibility requirements to participate. In addition to attending class for two hours each week on paid time, participants are expected to complete three to four hours of homework each week on personal time. Completed applications should be submitted to Human Resources.
