Focus

Independent Living Inc. can now provide caregivers an option for relief through the new Respite Rescue program. Clients and families can choose for approximately 30 hours of subsidized in home care or a five-day stay at Independent Living’s Segoe Gardens Assisted Living Facility offering 24-hour care. The program will allow family caregivers to relax and rejuvenate by getting a much needed rest or break while knowing that their loved one has the care and services they need.

Independent Living Inc. understands the challenges that arise for family caregivers when trying to balance giving the care needed to their loved one versus the demands of work, family and life. United Way estimates there are 42,000 family and unpaid caregivers in Dane County. Because care giving is often a long-tem, difficult task, many caregivers often experience poor health, depression, anxiety and higher mortality than the general population. Care giving also takes a financial toll resulting from work-related absenteeism, and even job loss. Respite Rescue offers an opportunity for family and informal caregivers to enjoy some time off from their care giving duties to tend to their own affairs, health, business or other family members.

To learn how the new Respite Rescue program can help you or someone you know or to enroll in the Respite Rescue program, please call 608-274-7900 or visit www.indepenliving.com. Respite Rescue is generously supported by United Way of Dane County and Attic Angels Association.

Independent Living Inc. is a non-profit, multi-service agency that assists people with disabilities and older adults, enabling them to live with dignity and independence while maintaining health and well-being.
