Institutional MA for Children

Patients under 18 who appear to be disabled and have been residing in an institutional setting (such as UWHC) for at least one calendar month can be referred to SSI/MA.

Only the patient's income and assets will count, not the parents.

Once the patient returns to the home, the parents can apply for Katie Beckett to continue MA coverage.

If the parents income and assets are under the regular SSI/MA limits, the patient would apply for regular SSI MA.
