Diabetic Testing Supplies

Diabetic Testing Supplies - Departments & Programs, UW Medical Foundation, Patient Resources, Social Work Services Quick Guide, Social Work Manual, Financial, Medicare

Focus

Effective 7/1/13, Medicare implemented changes to their policy for coverage of diabetic testing supplies for patients receiving them via mail. Supplies delivered to a patients's home will need to provided by a national diabetic supply provider (not UW Mail Order), or be picked up at any retail pharmacy able to bill Medicare directly (UW included). All patients received a direct mailing from Medicare in May informing them of the change, and patients receiving supplies through UW Pharmacies received a UW-specific mailing in June to reinforce the changes in the Medicare mailing. Patients filling at UW Pharmacies can pick up supplies at East, Main Outpatient, Oncology, AFCH, UStation, and West.
