HEALTH CARE BILLS
- ACA Health Insurance Marketplace
The website will provide health insurance plan options and will also notify you if you are eligible for a subsidy, cost share reductions, or Medicaid.
NOTE: The Affordable Care Act requires all US citizens to have health insurance. You must enroll during the open enrollment period or qualify for a special enrollment period.

BadgerCare Plus/Medicaid (MA)
For patients age 65 or older under 19, blind or disabled, pregnant, parents and relatives caring for a child, parents with a child/ren in foster care, or farmers/other self-employed parents. Undocumented women may qualify for MA during pregnancy.
Crime Victim Program
WI residents. The victim’s conduct must not have caused or contributed to the crime that led to the injury or death

Family Planning Waiver Program

Wisconsin Health Insurance Risk Sharing Plan (HIRSP)
Health insurance for WI residents who either are unable to find adequate coverage in the private market due to their medical conditions or who have lost their employer-sponsored group health insurance. Covers major medical and prescription drug expenses.
Wisconsin Well Woman Program
Screening and referral for breast and cervical cancer. Women age 35-64, no health insurance or limited insurance, within income guidelines.

FREE and LOW COST CLINICS
Access Community Health
Primary health care clinic that serves uninsured and underinsured on a sliding fee scale. Care for acute and chronic illness for all ages, screening for sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy care, well woman exams, well child exams, mental health counseling, and social work services.
American Community Medical Center
Sliding fee scale and possibly free primary care and medications, specialty care consultation (no free controlled substances). Must apply and can take up to two days for a six month approval.

Dermatology Free Clinic
First Saturday of each month at 9-noon (arrive around 8am, first come first served) at The South Madison Health and Family Center, 2202 South Park Street in Madison, WI. Ask at the reception desk to be checked in for dermatology.
Limited care provided by UW medical students. Free walk-in clinic on Saturday mornings 9 am-noon. First come, first served, no appts. Many patients arrive at 8 am.

Services include birth control, pregnancy testing, counseling, and pelvic exams. Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, urinary tract infections and confidential HIV screening.
Physical Therapy Free Clinic
Every second Saturday of each month, at 9am at The South Madison Health and Family Center, 2202 South Park Street in Madison, WI. Patients are seen on a first come first served basis until noon. Ask at the reception desk to be checked in for physical therapy.
Public Health Department
Most services are free to City of Madison residents. Services include: Immunizations for children and adults, health screenings for immigrants and refugees, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) nutrition services, dental care for children, TB testing and medication, testing for HIV/AIDS, health advice related to communicable diseases, community resources for health, guidance for pregnant women, etc.
