Windows 7 Resources - Departments & Programs, UW Health, Information Services

UW Health Information Services is pleased to announce that we will be upgrading all Windows computers to the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and Microsoft Office 2010. Deployment will start in the next few months, and complete by April 2014. Our current Windows XP operating system was released to the market in October 2001, and has served us well for over ten years (a millennium in computer software time). However, Microsoft support and updates for Windows XP will end in April 2014.

For the past several months, members of the UW Health IS teams have been working to develop a Windows 7 configuration for distribution to all PCs.  Specifically, we plan to install the 64-bit configuration.

We are also planning an upgrade for UWHC users to Microsoft Office 2010 and expect to deploy that along with the Windows upgrade. Please click on the Related links on the right for Office 2010 training documentation.

The upgrade will happen by building or department for most users. We are developing the schedule and will contact department managers to determine the best time for the upgrade in their particular areas.
