he Medical Transcription department provides high-quality documentation used in the care, research, and health management of UW Health patients. Providers are offered a variety of documentation options including full dictation, partial dictation, and front-end speech.

Full Dictation: Providers dictate a complete note that routes to a healthcare documentation specialist for transcription.

Partial Dictation: Providers dictate a portion of their note that will be transcribed by UW Health's professional healthcare documentation specialists. It is to be used in conjunction with HealthLink charting tools, such as SmartTexts, SmartPhrases, and SmartLinks to complete a full note.

Front-End Speech: Speech-recognition solution that enables providers of any specialty to create, review, edit, and sign clinic notes directly within the EHR in real time. Fluency Direct, our front-end speech product, was voted 2017 Best in Klas for speech recognition.
