The weekly reminder email is a listing of deficiencies assigned to you as of the morning on the day you received the email.
These emails are also used by Department Chairs/Section Heads, Chief Medical Officer and Director of Coding to review documentation that remains incomplete 14 days post-discharge. Some departments have implemented fines or other penalties for this.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I RECEIVED A DEFICIENCY NOTICE FOR INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTATION?
Open the encounter and review the deficiency type and status information to see what is needed to complete the documentation.
WHAT IF I AM NOT THE CORRECT PROVIDER FOR A DEFICIENCY?
In your In Basket, click the "decline" button, then enter the reason “patient not mine.” When you do this, please identify the correct attending in the comments section, if known.
Once declined, the deficiency will fall on a report to be reviewed and upated appropriately. Until the review occurs, the deficiency will stay assigned to you, but will be hidden from your InBasket.
