Breast Imaging - Departments & Programs, UW Health

The Breast Imaging section offers a variety of imaging services and is composed of highly skilled and experienced radiologists, technologists, ultrasonographers and support personnel. These breast experts work collectively with a multidisciplinary team of breast cancer surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists and breast reconstruction surgeons to provide timely diagnosis, treatment plans, education and support for breast cancer patients.


Imaging services are provided at three Madison locations. 

East Clinic and West Clinic

UW Hospital Breast Center

All procedures, with the exception of screening mammograms, require a physician's referral. A patient can schedule a screening mammogram by calling one of the breast imaging locations. Learn more

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) Mammography (HFFY)

National Cancer Institute

UWHC uses computer aided detection (CAD) for all screening mammograms. CAD software assists radiologists by helping to identify suspicious areas on breast images.

October 27, 2007 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine - Digital Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial 

The Wisconsin Well Women Program (WWWP) is available for preventaive health screening services for women with limit or no health insurance coverage.
