Heart and Vascular Care (HVC) - Departments & Programs, UW Hospital and Clinics

Cardiovascular disease refers to any disease of the heart (cardio) or blood vessels (vascular). The two are closely interrelated and at UWHC, experts treat heart and vascular diseases comprehensively. The UW Heart and Vascular Care Service Line brings together cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, and other specialists to provide the most advanced and effective treatments.

HVC logoThe team at UWHC recognizes the opportunity to stop these diseases using comprehensive testing and treatment. Cardiovascular disease is systemic, which means that it often affects multiple parts of the body. People who have one heart or blood vessel disease likely will have another, secondary disorder.

UW Heart and Vascular Care is dedicated to providing expertise in testing, treatment, research and education. Because heart and blood vessel diseases are so closely related, treatments for heart and vascular diseases are converging. Today, more heart and vascular disorders are being treated with less invasive procedures than ever before. It's that shared knowledge and expertise that makes our approach exceptional.
