Focus

To minimize patient apprehension and inconvenience, admission, transfer and discharge of patients will be conducted in a timely, efficient manner. Emergency screening and stabilization services will be provided in accordance with federal law. When patients are accepted for admission, the UWHC AccessCenter, the patient care units, and the Emergency Department will work together to ensure a smooth transition of patients from another institution to UWHC. All patients or their authorized representatives will be involved in the development of a discharge plan to ensure continuity of care and to facilitate the transition of the patient from one level of care to another.
