Who is responsible for compliance? We all are. Each and every UWHC staff member is responsible for doing their job in a way that protects patient privacy, ensures proper documentation and billing, is transparent with regard to conflicts of interest and complies with relevant laws. We are all responsible for “Doing the Right Thing.” And if we don’t know how, we ask. We ask our supervisor, another leader, or we ask the Compliance Department, (608) 203-4631.
The Compliance Department’s activities are directed by the Compliance Executive Oversight Committee (CEOC). The CEOC members are UWHC’s Chief Executive Officer and eight Senior Vice Presidents. The Compliance Department also reports to the Audit Committee of the UWHCA Board of Directors. The Compliance Department’s main areas of focus are listed below.
