Acountable Care Organization (ACO) - Departments & Programs, Programs and Initiatives

Focus

Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are of groups of doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers who come together voluntarily to provide coordinated, high-quality care at lower costs to defined populations of patients.  Effective 2018, UW Health ACO, which now includes both UW Health and UnityPoint-Health Meriter providers, clinics and hospitals, will participate in CMS's Next Generation ACO Model (NGACO). Under NGACO, UW Health ACO is accountable for the total cost and quality of care for approximately 25,000 Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries.
