Testing Site: Testing will be sent to an approved reference laboratory

Patient should not be tested within 24 hours after sexual intercourse because semen and/or sperm present may cause a false-positive result.
Specimen: Cervicovaginal secretion
Collection Container: Adeza Specimen Collection Kit
1. Obtain prior to digital cervical examination or vaginal probe ultrasound examination as manipulation of the cervix may cause release of fetal fibronectin.
2. Do not use lubricants, soaps, or disinfectant (e.g. K-Y® Jelly lubricant, Betadine® disinfectant, hexacholorophene) on speculum or cervicovaginal secretions as they may interfere with test.
Transport specimen to the laboratory. If specimen is coming from clinic location, transport with coolant pack. Refrigerated specimen must be received by performing laboratory within 72 hours of collection. Specimens must be sent via taxi.
Results reported as positive or negative with interpretation.
Moderate or gross vaginal bleeding may interfere with test.
