UW Neurology/Stroke Service Resident Orientation Manual

UW Neurology/Stroke Service Resident Orientation Manual - Clinical Hub, References, Comprehensive Stroke Program

Focus

The mission of the stroke service is to provide evidence-based, high-quality care to patients with cerebrovascular disease. Most patients will have suffered an acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). The service also admits some patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. Most patients who undergo a surgical or endovascular procedure will be admitted to the neurosurgical service, at least for their initial post-operative care.

The resident on service will assume primary responsibility for the management of these patients, with graded supervision by the stroke fellow, when we have one, and the stroke service attending.
