Focus

Purpose:  To identify appropriate patients for outpatient surgery at UW.

Listed below are patient factors that may preclude a patient from having a procedure performed at UW Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC).  If any of these risk factors are encountered during an H&P or chart review, consideration should be given toward having the procedure performed in the main OR to prevent the possibility of case delay or cancellation on the day of surgery.

Patients UNSUITABLE for surgery in OSC

Social

Cardiac

Pulmonary

Endocrine

Hematologic

Neurologic

Renal/Electrolyte

Type of Surgery/Monitoring

Co-morbidities

Patients that MAY be suitable (require chart/patient review by anesthesiologist or SAFE clinic prior to surgery)
