The mission of the PASS program is to provide preprocedure evaluation recommendations and risk stratification advice for clinics, providers and patients. We focus on patients with significant medical problems scheduled for procedures under anesthesia service care. We are strong proponents of patient-provider shared decision-making.

Patients who meet criteria (see links at left) can be  referred to us by providers for either a physical visit to the PASS clinic or for a Health Link review. We are unfortunately unable to review or see every patient so we rely on accurate triage by procedural or surgical services. Ultimately, our evaluation and a dialog with these services should improve the patient experience and minimize risk. Preoperative medicine is a complex field and many factors go into determining the optimum patient evaluation and management strategy. We encourage questions – please contact us via InBasket or phone call. The PASS Clinic is staffed by nurses who consult with a rotating anesthesiologist, assigned for the day.
