The Diabetes Management Service (DMS) is a group of providers that works with adults who have high blood glucose (also known as blood sugar) levels during their hospital stay. DMS has special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of this condition. DMS works with patients, their families, the primary team of doctors, nurses, dietitians, and other clinicians to manage blood sugar levels to promote healing, prevent infections or other blood glucose related problems.
Our team includes:
- Endocrinologists: Doctors with specialized training in treatment of diabetes, thyroid disease and other endocrine issues
- Endocrinology fellows: Doctors training in the specialty of Endocrinology
- Endocrinology Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants: Advanced practice clinicians trained in the specialty of Endocrinology
We also work closely with dietitians and nurses, including Learning Center staff, to assure patients and families receive the self-management education they need before discharge.
