Understanding Your Heart Health
11-14 years

The Cardiology Team will continue to help you understand your cardiac diagnosis and your
medicines. We will continue to help you learn how to keep your heart and body healthy. At your
clinic visit try to answer all of the questions asked. This will help you take charge of your own
health as you get older.

Your goals:

 Continue to learn how the heart works
 Continue to understand why we check your heart
 Name your medicines and reasons for taking them
 Start to take your medicines on your own
 Make heart healthy choices in your diet
 Begin to learn how your body feels and what to do if something feels different
 Begin to answer questions at your clinic visits
 Talk about exercise and activity and why this is important
 Continue to practice regular teeth brushing and flossing
