Responder 5

Responder 5 - Clinical Hub, Nursing Hub

Responder 5 is the nurse call system utilized by at University Hospital (UH), American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH), UW Health at The American Center (TAC) and the Digestive Health Center (DHC). Responder 5 provides a means for patients to request assistance, notify staff of the patient call and patient request via a pager or Cisco phone, support staff notification of critical alarms (e.g., bed exit, ventilator). Responder 5 integrates with real-time locating systems (RTLS) to provide staff presence information to assist in cancelling calls and locating staff. Through the use of middleware, assignments in the Responder 5 system support secondary alarm notification for the GE physiologic monitoring system.


Focus

All areas use Responder 5 software. UW Health is undertaking a multi-year project to upgrade the nurse call infrastructure at UH and AFCH to Responder 5 infrastructure. As of January, 2016 the following areas have Responder 5 infrastructure installed:
