Health Maintanence: Colonoscopy (Optical or Virtual)

Health Maintanence: Colonoscopy (Optical or Virtual) - Clinical Hub, UW Health Clinical Tool Search, Preventive Health Care and Health Maintenance, Information on Specific Preventive Health Topics

Focus

Colonoscopy (Optical or Virtual) – a procedure screening people for cancer of the colon

What makes my patient due for a colonoscopy?

Default (every ten years): All male and female patients between ages 50 – 75 will be due for an optical colonoscopy every ten years.

Note: Virtual colonoscopies are indicated every five years with normal results.

Special Health Maintenance plans that you “manually enroll” vs. the Health Link system assigning to your patient:

Note: If the colonoscopy procedure is performed by a UW Health physician, your patient will be manually enrolled in one of the above plans by either the Gastroenterology or Virtual Colonoscopy Departments.
