HOW TO REQUEST NEW WORK, CHANGES OR SUBMIT COMMENTS

Use the “Protocol Request Form” link at the bottom of the page. This will generate a Service Now ticket which will be added to the queue for prioritization and assignment to staff.

NOTE: It is important to obtain approval from operational leadership prior to submitting a request. Please specify in the request which operational leader(s) or committee(s) has endorsed development of the protocol.

PERIODIC REVIEW AND NEW DEVELOPMENT PROCESSES

All delegation protocols should be developed using the UW Health Protocol Template. Staff should follow the detailed processes outlined within the UW Health Delegation Protocol Resource Guide and UW Health Clinical Policy 1.2.8. The process typically takes about 4 months (depending on the number of approval bodies required and scope of the protocol).

Protocols are reviewed a minimum of every 3 years. The content of the protocol drives the committees from which it must be approved or endorsed. All protocols must be approved by at least one Medical Board Subcommittee, the Medical Board, and either the Chief Clinical Office (ambulatory) or Associate Chief Medical Officer (ED/inpatient) prior to implementation and staff education.
