MILD or MODERATE Contrast Reaction
nausea, vomitting, Urticaria, diaphoresis, mild bronchospasm or dyspnea, facial edema, SYMPTOMS:
tightness.abdominal pain, chest or throat
with the prophylaxis exam without contrast or a different imaging modality. Otherwise, proceed Consider
protocol below.
Medication - Corticosteriod [134845]
methylprednisolone (MEDROL) tab [720092] 32 mg, Oral, ONCE For 1 Doses
Take 12 hours before contrast injection
methylprednisolone (MEDROL) tab [720092] 32 mg, Oral, ONCE For 1 Doses
Take 2 hours before contrast injection
Medication - Histamine H1 Antagonist (Single Response) [134846]
diphenhydramine (BENADRYL) cap [36791] 50 mg, Oral, ONCE For 1 Doses
Take 1 hour pre-contrast. Diphenhydramine
(Benadryl) must be used with the provision that the
patient does not drive a car or operate heavy
machinery 4-6 hours after administration
diphenhydramine (BENADRYL) injection [800106] 50 mg, Intravenous, ONCE For 1 Doses
Take 15-20 minutes pre-contrast. Diphenhydramine
(Benadryl) must be used with the provision that the
patient does not drive a car or operate heavy
machinery 4-6 hours after administration
diphenhydramine (BENADRYL) injection [800106] 50 mg, Intramuscular, ONCE For 1 Doses
