Wound Care - Closure With Removable Suture

Routine, Leave bandage on for 1 week. If bandage
becomes soaked in first 24 hours, call nurse triage. No
swimming or soaking in water for 7 days after surgery.
OK to shower. Do NOT use ointments, powders, or
creams on the wound.
Wound Care - Closure With Dermabond
[NURWND0015]
Routine, Your wound is closed with glue. The glue is
waterproof, so it is OK to shower. The glue will start to
peel off in 10-14 days. If you have steristrips (tape)
over the glue leave them on until you are seen in clinic
(10-14 days). No swimming or soaking in water for 7
days after surgery. Do NOT use ointments, powders,
or creams on the wound.

Routine, Empty the drain daily and as needed (when it
is half full).
Measure and record the output after bulb drain is
emptied, squeeze drain and close the cap to maintain
suction.
Drain can be removed if 30mL in 24 hrs for 2 full days
in a row strip the drain frequently , do not take it apart.

by pain pills; rapid or excess bruising (some bruising is
normal); sudden shortness of breath or cough;
cramping/swelling to leg; and/or dark urine.
